Central Madrid 4 star boutique Hotel with great restaurant “Ex-libris”

Buenos dias,

I wish all of you a happy New Year and that in 2014 all your dreams come true.

For this January edition I wanted to highlight a nice hotel in the center of Madrid a bit hidden but with great and easy access to the shopping streets, the museums and other tourist attractions: Prado Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Reina Sofia Museum and much more

The Hotel is called the Hotel Lusso Infantas and is situated in Calle Infantas 29 a quiet street behind Madrid big boulevards.

A nice and very clean hotel, run by a small team that love their job, very helpful and dedicated to its customers.

In the evening you can have a nice dinner in their restaurant right next to the hotel called the ‘Ex-Libris’ with typical spanish plates. Have a look at their menu here

A nice place to stay at with rates going from 60 to 150€ the night.

Luxury Boutique Hotel in Paris – Latin Quarter

Bonjour mes Amis,

Long time no writing, I was very very busy last year and had a hard time in finding the time for HotelXplain. The truth is that my son was born and as a happy father and good husband I had to spend more time with my family.

I decided that after a few comments , very few comments, that I had to come back with some nice places. I wanted to speak about a nice luxury boutique hotel in the Parisian Latin Quarter.

The place is called La Villa D’estrées and is situated on 17 Rue Gît le Coeur, a small perpendicular street of Rue St André des Arts. This 4 star, 10 units Boutique Hotel offers Double Deluxe rooms and suites. It price ranges between 200 and 450€ the night, but for a romantic stay I definitely recommend this place. Actually the owners of the Villa d’Estrées also own the Hotel across called the Résidence des Arts and the typical french Bistrot called the Café Latin.

The people are very helpful, there is great ambiance in the café in the evening. Leaving the hotel you reach in 5 minutes the Cathédrale de Notre-Dame de Paris, Boulevard St Germain, Place St-Michel, The Luxemburg Gardens and much more…

Back to Barça! Stay at the Hotel Olivia Plaza

It has been a pretty long time I have not been writing for you guys and giving some nice hotels I have been staying at. For this Barcelona excursion, I am staying at the hotel Olivia plaza, right on the Plaza Cataluyna.

Have room 1006, very nice and spacious room with great views on the plaza catalunya…

You will als be able to enjoy whether for lunch or for dinner the restaurant Nineteen, and the nice terrace in the back of the hotel.

If you want to stay in Barcelona’s city centre, you will not find more central location. From here, you can reach las ramblas, Paseo de gracia, Casa battlo, etc… in a stroll.

Madrid New Boutique Design Posadas or ancient guesthouse hotels

Thanks to my work I get to see a lot of nice places, I found a few Posadas in Madrid that have recently been restored and opened as part of the ‘Small boutique hotels’ or even ‘Small design hotels’. The difference of those Posadas, which means Guest house, is that they are very often situated in some really cool neighborhoods. I found two really nice ones:

1) La Posada del Leon de Oro is situated in the area called ‘La Latina’ on Calle Cava Baja 12.
La Latina is known for it’s Bar Tapas and ambiance every evening but the busiest days are obviously from Thursday to Saturday, beside the nightlife it is Madrid’s oldest area.

So the Posada del Leon de Oro has recently been restored and opened its doors end 2010, it offers 17 unic design rooms all different one from each other. It has a nice restaurant and a great wine cellar. All Wine lover will be very happy here. Not only the area is great, but very centrally located, in only 5 mn walk you reach the ‘Plaza Mayor‘ and some 5mn more you will be on ‘Puerta del Sol‘. This nicely and newly decorated hotel offers Double rooms, Family rooms and also suites, however do not forget there are only 17 rooms. Rate varie in between 100-200€, may be more during tradefairs such as Fitur.

I know also that they are going to open a second Posada, right next to this one called ‘La posada del Dragon’, the Sales director showed me the reception so far, it looked fantastic.

Make sure to stay here one time you go to Madrid. My Idea is clear about this place, however how would Luis Pelaez, director of sales, describe his Design posada?

Barcelona Great City boutique Hotels – Design and more

Woah, nearly 3 months without any news…Sorry!!!

I have been travelling around pretty much and found some new Small Boutique Hotels, where charm, design and kindness is one:

If you have been to Barcelona or plan to go, try the following City Boutique Hotel –
Hotel Villa Emilia Barcelona, a really nice Hotel situated on Calle Calabria 115-117 in the Eixample district.  It’s 53 rooms have a warm decoration, the bathrooms are great and in the evening especially during the warmer days, you can have some cocktails on it’s roof terrace and even have dinner there. Special barbecue evening on thursdays. The Breakfast is just perfect, fresh orange juice, homemade marmelade, bread, egss….everything to have a perfect daystart.

I love this place, because of the decoration, but also of the ambiance, the staff is very very friendly, very helpfull and always ready to help or advice….

Hotel Constanza Barcelona – Boutique Hotel

Hello Amigos,

It has been a while I have not come back to write something on hotelxplain, have been pretty busy these last weeks. However I wanted to share a great boutique hotel situated only two blocks away from Paseo de Gracia and its Plaza Cataluña.

The Hotel Constanza Barcelona, a recently restored Hotel situated on Calle Bruc, offering 46 rooms divided into doubles and suites.  All rooms are pretty spacious, the suites all offer a small terrace (whether balcony or patio).

 

 

 

 

 

I love this place, because the people working there make you really feel home, they are always very smilling and extremely helpfull. The Hotel also owns a tiny restaurant, where you will be having breakfast in the morning.  Rate starting at: 100 – 120 €/night.

As soon as the warmer days start, you will be able enjoying a cocktail or glass of wine on the roof terrace, I know the director is thinking of organizing events up there for its customers.

You will really adore staying here, being in the centre without having the impression. Within just a few minutes of walking you will reach Plaza catalunya, las Ramblas, shopping centre ‘El Corte Ingles’, and much more…

What are you waiting for to reserve?

My idea is very clear about this place, but how would Ana Rodriguez, Director of the hotel describe her Boutique Hotel in the heart of Barcelona?

Hotel Abalu Madrid

The Hotel Abalu is a design boutique hotel of 16 rooms located in the centre of Madrid, close to the famous Gran via and it’s musicals and shops.

All rooms have been independently decorated with a lot of style and taste. You will find rooms with luxury settings that will make your stay very comfortable. Staying in this hotel has been a great experience, thanks to the very helpfull and friendly staff. I loved the rooms originality!

Hotel Condado Barcelona

The Hotel Condado Barcelona is situated on Calle Aribau 201 – 08021 BarcelonaRoom Hotel Condado.

This very nice 3 star Hotel is a very good value for money. It is not in the very centre of Barcelona but you reach the top of ‘Paseo de Gracia’ in a roughly 10 mn walk. A very clean hotel, quiet, the rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. Let’s find out how Ignacio Casellas, director of the Hotel Condado would describe his Hotel!
